Mayweather vs Mosley Fight Online Free This May 1st.

Top Rank promoter 78-year-old Bob Arum was planning on putting unbeaten Edwin Valero (27-0, 27 KO’s) against his number #1 fighter Manny Pacquiao for a big money fight within a couple of bouts. All of that will never happen now that Valero has committed suicide while in jail in Venezuela. We’ll never know what Valero could have done with his boxing career. In an article at Reuters, Arum said “I was grooming him [Valero] as a future opponent for Manny Pacquiao. That would have been a sensational fight.”

Arum was right about that. Valero was very special and could have been a great one had he lived. Valero was in jail for killing his wife on Sunday. And then today, Monday, Valero was found hanging in his jail cell. The jailers had taken his shoelaces and shirt as a suicide precaution, but had failed to take his trousers, which is what Valero used to hang himself on the bars of the cell. This is all pretty tragic and it’s something that hopefully people can learn from.

Valero reportedly had an alcohol problem before his death, and this would have had to have been treated for him to have taken on a top fighter like Pacquiao. But it’s interesting to speculate what would have happened if Valero and Pacquiao had met in the ring. Both Pacquiao and Valero would have been the same height at 5’6”, but unless Pacquiao came down in weight from 147, Valero would have been at a great disadvantage against Pacquiao.

At the time of his death, Valero hadn’t fought over 135. In fact, Valero only moved up in weight from super feather last year in April. To ask Valero to move up to welterweight for a fight against Pacquiao, which I could see happening given the pull that Pacquiao has, would have been asking too much from Valero. However, if the fight could have taken place at 140, Valero would have had an excellent chance at possibly beating Pacquiao. Both of these fighters would have gone toe-to-toe, and there’s no telling whether Pacquiao or Valero would have emerged as the winner. Valero had never been beaten and with his crushing power and unorthodox fighting style, he would have been a big problem for Pacquiao to deal with.

Arum wasn’t aware of how bad Valero’s problem was with alcohol at the time of Edwin’s death, saying “I had heard stories about drug and alcohol abuse, but I never realized the magnitude of it. The few times I met with hi, he seemed perfectly normal.”

Trainer Emanuel Steward for Cotto

According to Fight News, world famous boxing trainer Emanuel Steward plans on training former WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) for his next fight on June 5th against WBA light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s) at the Yankees Stadium, in New York. This is an odd setup because Foreman was trying to get the services of Steward as well. However, Steward chose to work for Cotto, the more established fighter.

Steward, who trains IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko among many others, has made no secret about his interest in training Cotto. Steward sees things that he feels he can fix with Cotto’s game. Steward probably couldn’t hurt Cotto any, as he’s coming off a disappointing 12th round TKO against Manny Pacquiao last year. Steward is known for his success in training taller fighters like Tommy Hearns, Jermain Taylor and Klitschko. It’s difficult to see what improvements Steward can make in Cotto’s game, other getting him to clinch and use his jab more.

Cotto rarely clinches in his fights and this forces him to fight hard for 12 rounds. Steward might choose to change that a bit. Foreman is a fighter that uses a lot of clinching after every punch. Steward is going to have to figure out away to for Cotto to defeat Foreman’s punch and grab technique or else Cotto may find himself losing again. The 5’11” Foreman is bigger than Cotto by four inches and has a longer reach as well.

On paper, Foreman’s fighting style would appear to be all wrong for Cotto. Foreman moves all the time, uses his jab effectively and is good at punching and immediately trying up his opponents to keep them from getting their own shots off. Even if a fighter trains hard for Foreman’s style, it’s still extremely difficult to fight him because of his movement and grabbing technique.

Foreman doesn’t give much of a target except for the top of his head when he comes diving forward. If Cotto stands in his tracks when Foreman comes at him, he could find himself getting nailed by the top of Foreman’s head. With his constant diving in against his opponents, Foreman causes a lot of head butts. Cotto might have problems with Foreman’s head most of all their fight. It’s clearly a weapon and hard to combat against.

If Cotto does end up beating Foreman, it’s unknown if Cotto will decide to keep the WBA title to use for Manny Pacquiao bait to lure him for a 2nd fight. Besides Alfredo Angulo, Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez, there are few other opponents for Cotto to fight. It’s doubtful he’ll want to fight any of those guys.

Manny Pacquiao in TIME's 'most influential' poll again

MANILA, Philippines – Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is again included in TIME Magazine’s poll for the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010.

The poll, which opened on April 1, has Pacquiao joining global personalities like US President Barack Obama, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Conan O'Brien and Oprah Winfrey in the list.

As of April 3, Pacquiao was ranked No. 20 behind satire host John Stewart.

He had a total number of 4,663 votes with an average rating of 91. This is his second appearance on the list.

Pacquiao, a 7-division champion and reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight king, finished No. 20 in TIME Magazine's list of most influential “Heroes & Icons” in 2009.

Other categories listed in TIME’s 100 are Leaders & Revolutionaries, Builders & Titans, Artists & Entertainers, and Scientists & Thinkers.

In the Philippines, Pacquiao is currently engaged in another form of battle. He is running against Roy Chiongbian for the lone congressional seat of Sarangani province in Mindanao.

"An idol in his native Philippines, Pacquiao has become an international sports god, drawing much-needed fans to the fading profession of boxing,” TIME Magazine said.

“For now, the Filipino, a champion in seven weight classes, is focusing on a prize he has tried but failed to win before: a seat in his country's legislature,” it added.

Roach: Pacquiao Would Drop the Lawsuit to fight Floyd Mayweather

In a recent interview with ESNEWS, Freddie Roach gave some revealing thoughts regarding where Manny Pacquiao wants to go next. He mentions Manny having been interested in fighting Antonio Margarito for some time. “He wants to fight [Antonio] Margarito,” said Roach. “Before Shane [Mosley] beat him, he told me that he wanted him next, after Oscar. So he saw something that maybe Shane saw.”

But the man Pacquiao really wants, according to Roach, is Floyd Mayweather Jr. So much so that Roach (after some visible toiling with whether or not to say it out loud) admitted Manny would drop his litigation in order to make it happen. “He would drop the lawsuit just to fight that guy. Just win that lawsuit in the ring. That’s where I would like to win it, too.”

Evidence of Manny’s desire to fight Floyd seems to be a result of Mayweather having gotten inside Pacquiao’s head. “This is the first time I’ve seen [Manny] make fun of somebody in the gym. The guy’s under his skin a little bit. So he really wants it.”

But there’s still the matter of Floyd’s drug testing demands. To that, Roach had an answer as well. “We’re not going to negotiate with him on drug testing. That’s not going to happen, because he doesn’t run the sport. Again, that issue is gone. Any commission rule we’ll go with. Mayweather’s going to have to deal with that.” So it seems the line has been drawn in the sand. Will this prevent the fight from happening, considering the amount of exposure that will have been given to Mosley and Mayweather undergoing the USADA testing (it will most certainly play an important role in the HBO series 24/7)?

Roach doesn’t think so. He thinks Floyd needs Manny. “If he wants to make the money that he thinks he deserves, he has to fight Pacquiao. I can’t see him going anywhere else.” The cold, hard truth is that this is a two way street. Manny and Floyd can go on making their $10M paydays, give or take, but if they want to see the big dollars, they both are well aware that they need one another.

As to whether or not Roach thinks Mayweather is ducking Pacquiao: “I don’t think he’s ducking us. I think he needed more time to fight Pacquiao. I think he’ll come to the table after Mosley. If he beats Mosley that will be a good win, because he’s a very tough opponent. He’ll feel he’s ready for Pacquiao.” It’s an interesting angle not that heavily talked about. Floyd, in his post-fight interview with Kellerman after his Marquez fight (before the Mosley debacle) admitted he had some ring rust and felt he could do better. It is feasible that Mayweather wanted more time getting back into the game before taking on Pacquiao. It’s a possibility, sure. An explanation? Maybe.

As May 1st draws near, all eyes are going to be on Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley. This is not a walk in the park for Floyd, and Shane stands to earn the notoriety and respect he feels he never got earlier in his career. But try as you may, that little Filipino just doesn’t seem to want to go away.

Floyd Mayweather now bitter about Pacquiao's endorsement deals?

Mayweather vs Mosley - Floyd Mayweather has been giving lots of interviews ahead of his bout with Shane Mosley lately, but can't seem to stick to the subject for any length of time.

That subject of course is the one that got away, the super fight between himself and Manny Pacquiao. Floyd seems so consumed with it in fact that the interviewers don't even have to ask about it anymore for Floyd to bring it up.

In the video below with Slam Online, Mayweather goes from which basketball teams he supported growing up to how much he thinks Manny Pacquiao made for his endorsement deal with Nike.

The first half of the video Floyd talks about his love of basketball and sports betting. But true to form he breaks into a tirade about Manny Pacquiao at around the 4.55 mark.

He then goes on to claim that Pacquiao will sign anything, stating that "Manny Pacquiao never saw a contract he didn't like". He also proclaims that he knows the amount of money that Pacquiao got from his Nike deal, which he claims was $75,000. Now for a major star like Pacquiao and one of the biggest brands out there like Nike, this sounds like a pretty low offer. Than again Mayweather doesn't disclose why he thinks this was the case and doesn't seem to have an answer as to why Nike are sponsoring Pacquiao and not him.

Miguel Cotto vs. Yuri Foreman on June 5th at Yankee Stadium

Sometime WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) has been confirmed for a fight against World Boxing Association light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KOs) on June 5t, 2010 at the Yankee Stadium in New York, New York. The stadium, which is normally used to house the New York Yankees baseball team, will be retrofitted to fit "between 30,000 and 35,000 fans,"  This is perhaps an ambitious number for a fight that matches Cotto, a fighter who was recently beaten to a pulp by Manny Pacquiao in his last fight in November 14. And now fighting to defend it over his previous opponent Miguel Clottey.

Miguel Cotto at 29 has been stopped in two out of his last four fights in the past two years and looks like a shell of his former self. Maybe it is not time yet for Cotto to go for big names after scoring a 2 wins 2 losses in 2 year time.

There are some people who think that Cotto is going after Foreman, a fighter that few boxing fans have heard of, because Cotto can use the WBA light middleweight title as title bait for Manny Pacquiao, who into collecting titles for some reason and might want a chance to pick up an eighth world title. Whew! This will be another collection for Pacquiao.

Given how easily Pacquiao beat Cotto last year, he might be interested in beating him again and capturing yet another title. Some boxing aficionados might be interested in seeing the fight, that is indeed maybe. Cotto needs to pick up some significant wins over some known opponents to make a comeback on his name before Pacquiao can slaughtered him again.

Pacquiao vs Clottey Fight Coming Very Soon

The hype to watch Pacquiao vs Clottey Fight.

There are many boxing aficionados that are giving p4p and WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao way too much credits for his recent wins over Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton, and seem to be comparing those wins as reasons for why Manny will eat number one challenger and current boxing foe Joshua Clottey on March 13th when they meet up at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium, in Arlington, Texas. If those fighters – all come forward types that were made for Pacquiao – were still fighting in their prime and were actually fighting well at the time that they had fought Pacquiao, maybe we could say that it will end not just like that.

But still, Pacquiao is Pacquiao. The skills to slug opponents is always present. It seems that Pacquiao is not tired of proving that he is great in his chosen field. That it is his time to show up. He is even more famous and been chosen to received cool awards from different bodies.

Now Clottey is in the next chapter of his boxing career to replace the mouth watering Mayweather. It is only right to give Joshua credits to fight Pacquiao because of his fate to Miguel Cotto. Many believed also that Clottey should have won on that fight. Or even make a disqualification to Cotto for slamming Clottey in the corner of the ring in round 5.
